Test it, first: Before you start tackling your actual project, it’s a good idea to test it out on a scrap piece of fabric. This allows you to practice using the needle and thread, and try out some different stitches to see what you like most!
Pick the right needle: Different needles are essential for different fabrics. Use a heavier needle that can get through thicker material if your striped fabric is thick and strong. But a thinner needle will work much better and won’t damage the fabric if your fabric is thin and delicate.
Use an embroidery hoop: An embroidery hoop is an effective tool that holds your fabric while you’re working so it stays taut and in position. This allows your stitches to look nice and neat, and it allows you to sew without your fabric shifting around too much.
Use a different color: If you want your embroidery to pop, you can choose a color that contrasts the colors of the stripes. For example, if you have blue & white stripes you can always use bright red thread for an eye-catching & exciting pop of colour!
Use variegated thread: Variegated thread is cool in that it changes color as you are stitching. This gives your embroidery a fun, interesting look, especially on striped fabric. It can create a nice effect that gives your project some uniqueness.
